Which would gain more traffic for my site: separate URL for the blog, or keeping it in the site?
ie.) I have a college football forum site, www.thesackshack.com. I just recently got my blog going (and am starting to get hits on it).
The blog is located at www.ncaafootballtalk.com.
Would it be more beneficial to gaining Page Rank power for my main site to switch the blog back to www.thesackshack.com/blog?

You should keep the blog on your main site, at least that’s my opinion from personal experience.
Also, don’t waste your time chasing after Google Page Rank. Sure, it’s helpful in some capacities, but high Page Rank doesn’t necessarily mean high rankings in Google.
