What do you think the "pain" is for a company not having a updated website and not being ranked in google?
examples of pain like:
-Competition is gaining more business then you
-Your corporate web presences looks old and outdated
not reflecting the your true company brand/image
..etc?

Many companies have their stores hours and products listed. If this is outdated, the staff will be constantly answering the phone to provide this information to clients thereby taking away time for more important duties in the store/business.
It looks like your business is not a modern one. Most people have basic computer skills these days so they can update a website. It would look like you have to call someone in to do it.
If you are offering more new products since the last update, the customer may believe that you don’t have it (if they don’t look at the date) and get it from somewhere else.
If the price list has changed since the last update, many customers will be disappointed at the "price hike" and take their business elsewhere. It looks like you have been lying to them.
If you have moved since the last update, that would cause problems with customers as well.

Well, I use the internet alot at work to search for different companies who can supply certain materials. If they don’t have an updated website, I don’t usually like to bother. If it hasn’t been updated, the chances that their contact information is correct is usually nil. More and more people are looking to the internet than the yellow pages today and if they see a company as put time and thought into their webpage…they will assume that the company will put the time and thought into how they treat their customers.
