Yahoo Answers deleted my answer for "personal site promotion" (which i unsuccessfully appealed against) and refused to reinstate the content, despite posts #1 and #8 in the link (to a noncommercial academic forum) being relevant (Prince Randian being one of the first Indian people to immigrate to the US)
Can someone explain how exactly my answer violated the guidelines and who I can talk to in order to get my answer reinstated?

Dave, if they thought i was mocking the disabled (which i wasn’t) they would have said so, not given the dubious claim i was promoting a spam site. You may disagree, but the freakshow provided employment and the chance for people like Randian to be normal and pursue fame and fortune instead of being shut away in institutions
Brain, said report was neither fair nor credible. Yahoo Answers were wrong to delete it as all I did was provide a relevant link. As for spamming, have you seen what YA does to its own best answers?

]]> I have a website about brazil "www.destinationsinbrazil.com" but i do not know if I was black listed or if my website pages have been taken off of Googles index.

For example, usually the Keyword "Belo Horizonte Resort" would populate as #2 for the url www.destinationsinbrazil.com/Belo_horizonte.html but of late none of my keywords are ranking at their respective landing page but rather the ranking has dropped 100 positions or so and shows that the landing page is the main page of the website.

Can some one tell me if this is a sign of being blacklist’s by Google?
I thought when google blacklists a website not even the main page would show up on a Search…
I meant that at 1 time i was ranked #2 for the keyword and it dropped to #100 while pointing to a different landing page. which is why I was asking if anyone knows of the pages within the website (besides the main page) being black listed. Correct that search term shows up # 14 on Yahoo search but I was referring to Google Search

]]> A friend who has an earthlink account asked me to throw up a simple
site to showcase his home business, get it listed, and spend no money.
I succeeded, but am having trouble with the submission to search
engines. I picked up a listing in MSN, YAHOO and GOOGLE. I submitted
only the home page, not every single page. I used meta statements, but
am not sure anymore how much they are used. The text on the home page
amply describes the business and could be used in lieu of
metastatements. The ranking seems to have fallen over the last couple
of months.

I haven’t done this kind of thing for a few years, so I’m not sure
about metastatements, or if there is some cheap or free software that
will assist in the submission process.

If I was allowed to spend money, I could probably have it listed and
rank fairly well, but within the "no money" guidelines, what more can I
do to ensure his site does, if not well, at least better.

]]> Whenever I update my website all pages redirect to the same page (updating.php) that displays a message saying the website is currently updating.

What happens if Google spiders crawl my website while it’s updating and all pages are set to redirect to updating.php? What effect would it have in each page’s rank?
I did not express myself clearly. I am not talking about "under construction" signs. The page is finished and ready. But, whenever I update the files (upload new scripts and overwrite old ones and test that everything is working, I shut the website down, by redirecting to the updating.php page to avoid users seen any error until I have checked everything works fine)

The problem I see is that google can’t access the html because what the code does in the very beginning is check if there is a session set (so that only I can access the website while it is "shut down") and if there is not it uses a header() function with php and then a exit()

I am new to this, but the blog is starting to get some decent hits and I was hoping that maybe in the future I can look into getting local business’ to advertise on the blog.
Is there a way to determine the "going rate" I should charge for an ad based on the number of hits, the size of the ad, or something similar?
Just really need a starting point so I don’t look foolish when I start going to local business’.
