how do you start a blog on your own website?
I mean as opposed to starting a blog through a free site like blogger or wordpress. I want one on my own website, with my name and with no advertising

I’ve built my own website that I hope to make some ad money from. It’s related to software and website development and design. It has a forum, blog and articles on all phases of the SDLC. I’m wondering how much others spend and on what kind of advertising to get exposure. For now, I’m posting in forums where they allow links in my signature.
For example moderater, administrator, stuff that gives people different abilities on the website. I am using google website thing, I have my own website I bought. Do you need some kind of html code available online?
I made a website a year ago and I got back on last night and I had over a thousand members. And they all love it! I’ve told them and messed with the site more and they love it more now. Hello Everyone, I am a physician running my own medical clinic at Miami. I recently came across the benefits of having my own website for promoting my clinic. My supposed "niche" ‘new online income opportunity’ had a 24-hr search result of 580 according to a very popular keyword research tool when I started optimizing it. For the past 4 months, it has been fluctuating between 450 to 650 which is fine.
Now, for the past 1 week or so, I find that there are "zero" searches being shown in the 24-hr count. On the contrary, my own website is recording more than 100 hits per day through Google organic search itself.
Likewise another of my keyword ‘where is dubai’ that is drawing a traffic of average 150 visits per day through Google organic search has a total search of 20 per day according to this super tool.
Any comments?
I thought I was pretty good in using such tools, but now I wonder if I know to use them at all. For how can such well reckoned and vastly used research tools be wrong?

Need your suggestion! I want to start a new website and I want to select an SEO company before I launch my site as one of friends has her own website and she told me that to get the best results its better to optimize the website before submitting it to any search engine (that jus bounced over my head). Now she is getting the SEO for her website from a company called Vedikas (Indian SEO Company). Initially they gave a FREE SEO pre-optimization report (15 pages pdf file) for FREE and my friend was very happy with the quality of the work. She made all the changes which Vedikas suggested her. Now, after 2 months, on an average her website is getting 1300 unique visitors daily. 9000 – 21000 hits per day. They are charging 5 / month for small business website. IS IT WORTH IT? I guess its worth the money as my friend is very happy with the company! Still, thought of asking you guys!

About the HITS! The SEO company didnt promise any HITS! Its we who checked the website statistics ad found the HITS details.
Yea around 1300 – 1500 unique visitors daily. Is it a good number?
