I am new to SEO. But I have lots of experience in the web design world. One of my old employers (before I was a web designer) wants to use me for their SEO services. I am not sure what to charge. Does anyone have any suggestions for a new SEO professional? These are the skills I will be doing:

1. Create an XML sitemap and submit to all major search engines.

2. Install a WordPress Blog which matches the theme of your site. I will be responsible for maintaining it.

3. Create new pages/forms as requested. Update any of the pages as requested.

4. We will add appropriate meta tags/titles to any new page. You would have to provide with the keywords and accordingly we will create them.

5. Submit the site to all major search engines and directories.

6. Install Google Analytics so that you can monitor site performance.

7. Optimizing pages, title, tags and keywords.

8. Link building of website.

9. Increasing Company Website’s presence on Google maps.

10. We will use keywords to optimize website rankings.

I see a million ads for increasing one’s SEO that include basics like meta tags, metadescriptions, etc. I checked my blog on hubspot. It has a 99% rating out of 100% and is approximately ranked 2,200 out of 315,000 blogs. Now, I have NO metadescriptions in the blog–at least the hubspot spider couldn’t find any, and that was in its report. So are these rules of thumb about SEO pretty unreliable or are there so many things that go into seo optimization, the lack of something doesn’t necessarily matter. All I do on my blog is blog without any gimmicks

What sort of suggestions do people have for getting my site listed on the first page of results when people do a Google search? How about Yahoo? I know that Yahoo works with meta tags, but I believe that Google works more with "quality" links. is this true?

I just finished my 3 month term around a month ago with my SEO guy I

hired from India, and the results I got out of it was less than what I

expected. At first, I was around rank 9 or 10 in my most popular

keyword, and now, I am around rank 7 in the same keyword. It is not too

much of a difference, and it has been around 4-5 months since I first

hired him. I was expecting more of being in the top 3 positions for my

shortlisted 15 keywords.

SEO Tasks that he did was:

On Page Optimization:
Creating Content (keyword density)
Meta Tags, Sitemap, H1 header, etc.

Website Analysis (Load time, alt tags)

Off Page Optimization:

I paid ,000 for the services above.

1. Should I pursue my SEO with him, knowing that every month he can

bring me 40 inbound links for 0 a month, and will that bring my

ranking to a higher position? I would still want to target being in the

top5 in my major keywords.

2. I have another website that is very similar to the site that was just

optimized, more like a site offering the exact same products, but just a

different design of the website. Should I have that site optimized as

well? FYI, both of the sites are under the same webhost, if that should

matter.

Well I am in the process of designing a website for someone. I have learned so much about design and things, but I never have found out how to get the Search engine to get my site on the first page. I want people to type in like."Remodeling In Arizona"
"Bathroom Remodel" "Granite Installation" "Tile". Things like that. I have dreamweaver, if that helps, like using Meta tags. Which I don’t know how to do. Any help?!

as opposed to

smart.com…???

OR is it just about smart meta tags, keywords, title tags etc…??
