What's the best way to get my website ranked higher in search engines?

I know that Meta tags are pretty much worthless anymore, and engines crawl for content, but my site has lots of images and not lots of text. What should i focus on to get it ranked better so I can increase traffic?

Do lots of image impressions (requests to see and images, NOT a page) affect SEO or search engine rankings?

When an image is ‘viewed’ it could be in the form of a banner ad and such. Would it actually HELP search rankings if this traffic was channeled to the targeted site’s server versus other areas or does it simply make NO difference (except that of a bandwidth issue). Certain images can get 30,000 IMPRESSIONS (i.e. www.SITE.com/image.gif) or more per day. That seems like all those requests could do SOMETHING for rankings, right?

I have a questions to web developers and people with seo knowledge?

I plan to use a photoshop designed animation on with my website rotating photos of my best selling products. The question is if I have alt text for each image will the search engines read each alt text on all the pictures in the animation (about 6 images) or does the animation count as one image and only one alt text is read. Trying to increase my keyword count for ranking.

Will installing an htaccess file on my site block image search engines?

I get most of my traffic from image search engines, but now people are hotlinking like crazy to my images. I want to install an htaccess file to stop people from stealing bandwidth, but I’m afraid it will prevent image search engines from finding me even if I include them on the list of allowed sites. Do htaccess files block EVERYTHING?

Will adding images to your blog effect your search engine position?

I’m worried about adding images to my blog because I’m afraid it will effect my search engine position. I was thinking about adding images to the top left hand corner of each posting which is of course before the text.

How do you replace text in a div tag with images and will the text still be recognized in search engine?

I’ve been reading up on SEO today and one of the things mentioned is that one thing that’s important is your keywords, and the placement of them in your site. Now, I commonly make my sites really imaged based and heavy using CSS to pull the site together. In this particular case, I’m looking at the navigation bar (the common images with roll over javascript ones).

Now I don’t remember, but I vaguely remember a technique that involves using CSS to replace a text area or maybe the text within a div tag with an image. Two questions I have however is, can I use this technique with roll over images, and also, if the text that the image is replacing is a keyword, will the search engine still be able to see the keyword providing the word itself isn’t inside any javascript (which I hope it wont be).?

How to get more traffic for my site?

I own a computer repair business that offers online services. I am trying to let others know about my site. I cannot seem to get the traffic (target traffic) I am looking for.

http://www.rdptechs.net (I do have a lot of images on my site) I have ran a optimizer on my site and have found 39 errors in my page. Is this hurting my ranking on major search engines?

Please let me know.

Sincerely,

Parsing Javascript in PHP?

I am trying to make some type of website optimizer, which right now is going pretty good. I can get plenty of info such as file size, validation of html and css, an array full of all css files, etc.

The point is I know search engines choke on JS, so they ignore it. But is there some way to parse it with PHP, so for example I could get the file size of any and all images/ files js attached?

Thanks,

- Tom
