I know that probably everybody knows – but I’m really confused.

What exactly Alexa rank means and how it compares to Google Page Rank.

I’m searching the web and can see that sometimes pages with good Google Page Rank (4/10 6/10) has very bad Alexa rank.

How it is possible – and which ranking is more important.

I am working in marketing company and I was delegated to find out what it will be the best for us. Not to worry about Alexa and be happy that our page rank is 4/10?

Since I’ve set my toolbars measuring ranks it takes me whole day to jump from site to site and try to find ‘rank logic’

Anyway – how much is good Alexa rank and how much is Google?

I really need some answers because my head is spinning.

]]> I have someone interested in buying a website that I (my company) owns. But my Accountant has told me that If I sell it, I would have to pay 0,000 in capital gains tax. I don’t really get how this is a capital asset. It’s electrons flying through hyperspace…

I don’t see how this should be treated any different than if I were to sell a widget. If I buy a widget, it becomes an asset of mine. If I sell that widget for 3x what I paid for it, that is considered a sale, not a capital gain. And I only pay tax on the profit I made, if any, and only after I factor in all my expenses.

So what qualifies this as a capital asset? The Domain? The Registered Users? The Source Code? The Traffic? The Google Page Rank? The Brand Name? The Database? Or is it a combination of everything?

I don’t see how this is any different than a widget.

]]> I use Google Webmaster to keep up with stats for my wedding videographer website. As a side note, I’ve signed up for maybe 15 or so different "vendor listing" websites. In other words, sites that would list all wedding videographers in my State. For months, Google Webmaster Tools stated that I had 59 external links to my website. All of a sudden, about a month ago, that number went up to 16,863 links. It seems like having a ridiculously high number like that would hurt my Google page rank. Is this true? It shows me a sampling of 120 of the links, and none of these look too out of order. Although several of them I did not sign up for, none of them appear to be out of the wedding video field. Any thoughts are appreciated.
