how much to charge for advertisement on a blog?

Is this consider as violation?

Someone had post a question on how to download a music out off a video in youtube.
So I answer the question by giving him step to step to download it and the website to download it.
And I receive a violation email as it is "personal site promotion".

Plus, when I look at the other answers, they all provide some website and some of them contain the same link as me. And all of the answers got thumb down, Is it trolls?

I had reply the violation mail and they still consider as violation. May I know why?
Well, thank you for answering. I just want to know the reason, and the violation only cost me -10 points anyway. And points are not important just like money. Haha~
