Drawing upon their experience creating engaging communities for large companies nationwide, the 7Summits team worked with Social Media.org to design the site’s new experience, develop and test the necessary technology, and ensured the complete migration of the existing community profiles and content.

“Members of SocialMedia.org are working together to shape social media trends with people that they trust,” said Paul Stillmank, President & CEO of 7Summits. “Working with Andy and his team, we’ve structured the new community to provide access to cutting-edge knowledge and enable conversations to occur here that simply don’t happen anywhere else. 10 Effective Seo Design Tips To Impress Both Website Visitors And Search Engines

10 Effective Seo Design Tips To Impress Both Website Visitors And Search Engines

If you are professional with your search engine optimization efforts and keep your customer in mind before you start considering “what the search engines will think” you will reap a lot more than what you sow. Chances are, if your visitors like your website, there is a very good likelihood that the search engines will like it too.

With this in mind the following 10 tips focus on how to develop your website with your visitors in mind whilst also conducting effective search engine optimization activities.

1. Pick appropriate keyword phrases

This is the single most important thing to do when it comes to optimizing your website for search engines. The words and phrases that your potential customers type into the major search engines are the keywords your site should be using within the specific areas of your webpage (see below; Optimizing your Page Titles and Optimizing your Content). There are a number of useful keyword research tools available on the web such as Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery (both offer trial versions).

However, if you want to find out accurate figures of how many people are searching for your targeted keywords per week/month/year run a Google Adwords and/or Overture campaign and you will get extremely accurate figures of search engine traffic whilst (hopefully) generating income that will pay for your research.

2. Optimize every page on your website

Optimizing each webpage is overlooked by so many websites and can be the difference between competing for a highly competitive keyword phrase such as “Irish Hotels” on your home page and competing for a much less competitive keyword phrase such as “Hotels in County Galway” on another relevant landing page. After that they can check out the rest of your website that is all about “Irish Hotels”.

3. Optimizing your Page Titles

All of the major search engines have 100′s of different algorithms that compute where your webpage should be listed for different keyword searches. Putting your keywords within the title description tag of your pages is one of the most important SEO techniques and will help your website climb through the rankings and allow your visitors to remember exactly what your page is all about when they save it to their “favorites”.

4. Optimizing your Page Content

It is sometimes very difficult to write content for your website. Not only do you need to put the information you want the visitor to see in front of them in an easy-to-read style, you also have to keep in mind the keywords your page is targeting so that you can rank better within search engines.

One of the best pieces of advice I have come across is to write for your visitors and include the keywords as much as makes sense. Read what you have written out loud to yourself and a few others. If it sounds stupid… lather, rinse, and repeat.

5. Create an inbound linking strategy

Submitting your site to website and article directories is a very beneficial way to drive targeted traffic to your website.

Links within these sites not only brings visitors to your website, but search engine “spiders” are easily able find your website and index your pages within their results. If your site doesn’t have a link pointing to it on the World Wide Web the search engines will never find it and you will never see any traffic from Google or the other big ones.

6. Descriptively labeling your links and images (aka the anchor text)

This technique is both common sense and good practice. Telling your visitors what the link that they are going to click on allows them to know exactly what they are going to be directed to. Saying “click here” is not enough to help them understand what they’re going to find once they click through. Be as descriptive as possible with every text and graphical link on your site. When writing your anchor text and alt attributes you can almost always describe the page you’re pointing to by using its main keyword phrase which is a major factor that search engines take into account when it comes to ranking your web pages.

7. Make sure your site is spider-friendly

Your website may look fantastic. You and your web designer may be talented graphic designers who can make Flash and JavaScript dazzle your visitors with a show that would put Michael Flatley and his River Dance to shame. However, if your website contains Flash and Javascript it’s important to know that search engine spiders have difficulty reading this code (or appreciate the effort you put into the design). The way around this is to provide navigation alternatives such as static links and a site map to allow the spiders crawl deep within your website and index the web pages within their results. Overuse of Flash, JavaScript, and images can also lead to your web pages being very slow to download. If these file types are used sparingly your visitors and search engines will appreciate your efforts a lot more.

8. Create Fresh Content

When you are optimizing your website properly you will see a trend. If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it.

Blogs and forums are effective and easy ways of adding new information to your site on a regular basis. However, if your only purpose of setting up a blog or a forum is for better search engine rankings then there really is no point in doing it. Only add a forum if it contributes something beneficial to your website and if you have the traffic to make it interactive enough for visitors to return to it. And, only add a blog if you have something of interest to say on a regular basis. Once you have your blog and/or forum up-and-running you should optimize them with the same professionalism you do with any other page on your website.

9. Do not think that you can trick Search Engines

As noted before, “If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it”.

If you try to trick the search engines by hiding keyword phrases, joining link farms, or any other sneaky practice your sites will be removed from the search engines and it will take you a long time to get back in (and you will also have to spend more time cleaning up your website before they will accept you).

10. Offer something unique

If your website offers something that is unique and interesting to your target market and it is properly optimized (by applying all of the techniques listed above) you will not only rank well within the major search engines, you will also get the added benefit of people linking to your website in forums, blogs, and through other websites which will send your site more visitors and create more inbound links which will help it rank higher.

Remember it’s human visitors that you are trying to impress, not search engine robots.

How To Design A Search Engine Friendly Website

How To Design A Search Engine Friendly Website

There are many websites that fail to target their required
traffic, even if they’ve had some search engine optimisation
work done. One of the main causes for this is simply because the
website isn’t search engine friendly. This is a basic essential
that needs to be incorporated into the design of all websites at
the outset – think of it as the foundation to establishing your
search engine optimisation strategy. This article aims to
highlight the areas a web designer should think about and
incorporate into their design for search engine effectiveness:

1. Search Engine Friendly Pages It is important that when you
design your website you not only bear in mind what your website
requirements are, but also what the requirements are for search
engines. Best way to approach this is to remember that search
engines don’t really care about how nice or complicated your
graphics or flash movies are, or how snazzy your javascript is.
Instead search engines look at the code behind your page.
Therefore if you want to impress a search engine, then your code
needs to be nice and easy to read. Now from this I don’t mean
adding ‘comment’ tags and breaking the lines of code up with
spaces, but to ensure that the elements the search engine is
interested in, i.e. Title tag, Description tag, Keyword tag
(these days only some search engines really use the keyword
tag), Alt tag, are readable near the beginning of the code.
Search Engines don’t like wadding through lines and lines of
javascript to get to the core areas that can help you page’s
ranking. Therefore careful planning and positioning of your page
elements is required.

TIPS: • If you’re using table for laying out your page then make
them simple and not too complex. • Avoid using frames. • If you
need javascripts for navigation purposes, then use smaller
scripts to call up the bulk of the javascript from a different
file. • Think twice on how to use graphics – make them relevant
to your content and use the Alt tag for all images. • Position
the main content of the page before the images, or at least with
the images nested between the text.

2. Keywords Having good keywords is one of the most important
areas to consider when designing a website/webpage. One of the
best tools for this is Wordtracker (www.wordtracker.com), which
allows you to identify good competitive keywords for your pages.
In general the range of keywords associated to your pages can be
very extensive therefore for good concentration and prominence
of keywords it is advisable to carefully select the top 10-15
keywords. You can always export the results to Excel and try out
other competitive keywords if the ones you selected initially do
not produce any noticeable benefits.

TOP TIP: Wordtracker offer a one day subscription to their
service from which you can squeeze nearly 2 ½ days worth of use!
Here’s how – Sign-up for the service on the evening of Day 1
(the service will be available almost immediately so you can
start searching for your competitive keywords straight away).
You will also be able to use the service for the whole of Day 2
and strangely for the whole of Day 3! Enough time to get some
good keywords for a lot of pages!

3. Content Many search engines look at the main body of the page
and identify keywords and phrases that are used within the text.

TIP: Use competitive keywords relevant to the purpose of the
page within the main body of the page. Always try and ensure
that the keywords are prominent within the text body, i.e. they
appear near the beginning of the page, they are defined using
the ‘heading’ tag, they are typefaced in bold, or they are used
as hyperlinks.

4. Page Title This is arguably one of the most important areas
of a page and needs special attention to ensure that a good
title is selected. Similar to many other areas of designing a
search engine friendly page, the Page Title should also have a
good keyword which describes the page content. To keep within
the limits of many search engines the number of words for the
Title shouldn’t exceed nine.

5. Page Description Another important area to work on for good
ranking is the Page Description. This is the text found under
the META Description tag and is displayed to users in the search
results. Again, it is a good idea to pay attention to the use of
good keywords when writing the description, which should be
short (not more than 20-25 words) and sells your page before the
user has even opened it!

6. Graphics We’ve covered the use of graphics briefly above,
emphasising the importance of using an Alt tag containing the
relevant keyword(s). Although the use of images can be nice and
very appealing to a website, it is also important to bear in
mind that they shouldn’t overpower the textual content of your
page. As a general rule of thumb it is best to stick to a 70/30
ratio (70 text/30 images).

7. Site Map A Site Map is a fantastic way for search engines to
find all your juicy pages on your website. There are many free
Site Map tools available on the web that’ll create your site map
instantly.

8. Navigation Links Navigation links to other pages on your
website should be nice and easy. There are some engines which
find it difficult to navigate through to the other pages on your
website if the nav bar is too complicated, e.g. complicated
pop-ups, use of flash, etc. Therefore if your site does have
complicated navigation then it’s always a good idea to implement
simple text based hyperlinks to your common pages at the bottom
of every page on your website.

Following the basic suggestions above will help lay the
foundation to apply further good search engine optimisation
advice which will make the difference in your overall search
engine ranking. This finer area of SEO is beyond the realm of
this document and will require further investment based on
individual needs.

SEO Web Design Techniques to Optimize your Website

SEO Web Design Techniques to Optimize your Website

It takes more than wishful thinking in order to land one of your pages in the top 10 of Google, but once you understand the criteria of what is involved, you can increase the likelihood for each of your pages if you start with the goal in mind.

Rankings are based on algorithms, therefore if you are operating within the guidelines of the formula, certain results are produced consistently as a by-product of what comprises your pages.

Outlined below are a few examples of Seo Web Design including clearly defined on-page SEO principles known for producing top 10 results. The first component to ranking in the top 10 results in major search engines is:

Meta Tag Optimization:

Keyword stuffing (adding all of your keywords in the title, description and on the page) is a thing of the past. Not only will it blatantly get your red flagged from search engines, the human readers will have such a difficult time attempting to get the gist of your topic, you may as well say “please click the back button and leave my site” to save them the hassle.

Don’t stuff your keywords in the meta tags, keep your title on topic and short and sweet succinct title always works better than trying to stuff every possible keyword under the sun in one long / truncated title.

There is nothing more unattractive than words getting cut off in mid sentence, or even worse having to look at the dreaded pipes | keyword stuffing | stuffing even more keywords | even more ridiculous keyword stuffing, etc. No name calling here, but if you are using still using this technique for search engine optimization, it’s time to cut the mullet and move into 2007 where things have changed a bit and people actually click on the title based on the emotional response they receive from the message.

In this way, it’s not always having to be first on the page that matters (despite popular opinion), it’s who’s title is the most compelling that gets the click.

The Description Tag:

Depending on the strength of your website, you can rank for a keyword that is (a) in the title of the page (b) on your pages (in the body text or links) or (c) in the description tag alone. It’s more about the overall combination of these on-page factors that determine the ranking potential within each search engine, as they all have their own criteria for awarding relevance and relative positioning when a query is executed.

Your web page description should be concise and try to use actual search terms in your description (something most SEO companies won’t divulge). Any SEO worth their salt knows, that if you want to rank for a specific term, having the “exact match form” of that key phrase in your title and description increases your ranking potential for that term.

Keep the keywords with a higher priority closer to the front of the sentence and try not to go over 250 characters. This keeps your pages focused as well as makes each of the words more potent for ranking. The more words you use, the less potent they become. So once again, the short and sweet version works wonders for a two-fold purpose (1) the visitor, because it indicates to them what they can expect once they arrive and (2) the web bots and search engine spiders, that place a great deal of emphasis on the words in the title or in description data.

Optimizing your Hyper links:

First of all a hyper link for those who are unfamiliar with the term is a fancy way to say link that includes the URL (universal resource locater) otherwise known as website or web address inside. Links can be used for internal purposes (within your site otherwise known as navigation i.e. link architecture) or for external purposes such as linking to another website you enjoy or endorse.

If the links are leaving you website and going to another site they are considered forward links or if your website receives a link from another site they are called back links. In either capacity the way that the strength of a link is assessed is from the anchor text or text comprising the link states. So, instead of using click here for a forward link an optimized version of that would contain a keyword which carries tremendous weight in search engines when referencing what the topic of the page the link leads to, as well as add addition ranking potential to the page that the link is located on.

Hyper link optimization plays a major role in SEO. By understanding the role that links play in search engine optimization, you can understand how to improve the rankings on each of your respective pages, by following a few simple guidelines.

If you can envision your website as an island, the only thing bringing in traffic are the bridges that connect it to the surrounding land masses. Without those bridges (inbound links) to connect it then then how fruitful can you expect it to be?

If you have links coming into a page, say 20 for example and 30 links leaving that page, you are in essence dispersing the link juice or ranking power for that page to the 30 pages you link to. Having a good internal to external link ratio is one of the foremost aspect of SEO, but realizing that you should try to keep your links on topic and use keywords you wish to rank for in the text of the link to make the most of each link on your pages.

Optimization of Alt Tags | Alternative Text Tags:

Since web bots and spiders can not parse the data in an image or flash to determine what the image is, Alt tags allow webmasters to create a clear description of what the contents of the image are. If you have an image showcasing your company headquarters an ideal way to utilize the alt tag from this image would be a company name headquarters, city, state. This way you could obtain the maximum value for this image as a contributing factor to your overall rankings with regional references as well as using the company name to reinforce your brand.

In the past, this was one of the most abused forms or search engine optimization and fell more along the lines of search engine manipulation. Companies would stuff every keyword possible in the alt tags in over inflate relevance for their keywords instead of simply creating content with value. Filters have been added to search engines to eliminate websites utilizing such tactics, but you would be surprised to note how many webmasters still use this technique. Fortunate for us and unfortunately for them, it nearly results in penalties in rankings every time pushing them lower on the totem pole for achieving top 10 rankings if even top 100 results.

Optimization of your Website Content:

Optimization of your website copy otherwise known as content or words is the most important factor for ranking. Without going into too much detail, it is safe to say that the higher quality of content your pages have, the better they rank in search engines.

The reason is simple, think of the web spider as your friendly neighborhood reporter who is always looking to be the Johny on the spot to report the latest and greatest headlines to the web at large. These programs are more than just reporters, they have been designed to emulate human behavior and crawl through your pages much like a real human would. They follow links, take notes and even more so, if they like your content they come around more often to see if you have refreshed your data.

Knowing this it is important to write your pages for humans, since they actually pay the bills, but also to understand that you can create compelling text for the search engines to index as well. This is accomplished through word density, which is another fancy pants way of saying how many times a word appears on a page, and how close it is to other keywords that you have outlined as important within the document (using your links, titles and descriptions).

To add even more emphasis to a group of words for on page optimization, you can employ the header tags h1, h2, h3, and so on to reference the priority for those phrases or keywords on your pages. We explore specific uses of header tags at a later time, but the purpose for now is just to provide an overview of the basic elements involved in SEO Web Design.

Content truly is king, so the best way to grab the attention of the Google bot is to write world class content and sprinkle in optimization tactics for optimal effectiveness.

Site maps – What they are and how to use them:

A site map is essentially an index of the pages comprising your website. There are two different types of site maps;

(1) An HTML site map that is used for human visitors to find relevant pages and (2) an XML site map that is designed for spiders to connect the dots and find your entire website when it is performing indexing to create a snapshot of the contents.

Every page on your site should have 2 things in order to be taken seriously from the major search engines. Your site map and your privacy policy. Another thing you might wish to note, that if your physical street address is missing in action (in your contact page) on your website, your listings will probably have the same effect from Yahoo and some of the other engines. Penalties come in different shapes and sizes, so to avoid them it is better to be proactive and incorporate these three elements right from the start.

An HTML site map is nothing more than the link to your page with a brief description following it. This alone can affect where and how your page is ranked in the grand scheme of things. An XML site map on the other hand is something which is placed at the server level that spiders and web bots access (much like your robots.txt file) when looking for data to report back to the web.

I think that about wraps it up for this overview of the basics fundamentals of SEO Web Design, stay tuned in the future when we outline specific ranking strategies and methods that you can apply to your pages to optimize them using the principles that search engines are keen to respond to. The last thing you want to do is omit creating engaging content, after all, what good is SEO if after they arrive they just click and run as a result of lackluster content. But that is another article in it’s entirety.

Website Design Today

Website Design Today

Website Design is used by companies to promote their business and corporate agencies to market several products to their customers. There is no medium in the world today that does not take advantage of a web site design facility.

Web site design is used mainly on the following:

Businesses-related websites
Online resources in Banks
Promotion of movies and sitcoms
News delivery provided by leading news media
Personal promotions.

A Website Design is a representation of the body it represents. A second-rate design would affect the person or business the Website Design represents that’s why presentation is of utmost importance.

Here are some tips to web site design:
Do check the coverage of the web site you are designing. Keep in mind the target of the website when you are designing a web page. Don’t design sites with several links if it is for personal purposes or representing a small business. Aim to design an online site that’s user friendly and easy to surf.

You must also consider the layout for your website. Do design the website according to its requirement. Heavy animations and images is a heavy burden on the site. Website Development should consume less time to load so as not to lose the interest of the people viewing the website.

Don’t ever attempt to heavily decorate a web page to impress people. It is evidently proven that more people are attracted to web sites that have simple Web Design as compared to those which are heavily filled with images, sounds and animations.

Do check that the Website Design is compatible with the major browsers which are being used in the world. It is also important that when you add animations and designing to your webpage, you are aware what type of graphics the browser support and which animation won’t work on the internet. Upload your Website Design on a server that runs on most common browsers such as internet explorer, Mozilla and Netscape navigator. Authenticity of a server must be always checked before uploading you work online.

Do make sure to include relevant text on your Website Design.
It is very important that the documentation on the Website Design can be understood easily and direct to the point. Keyword keeps the focus of the reader to the topics on the website you are designing aside from merely describing the contents. Useless links and irrelevant text must be removed to avoid diverting traffic from the web site. Website Design must be done in a professional manner in terms of the amount of information or any knowledge provided in the website.

A good Website Design should be viruses and hackers safe.
Websites that deals with online business and is also used for cash transactions should ultimately implement latest security protocols with the Website Design. This is to ensure the safe exchange of cash at any occasion. Discourage the sharing of security protocol and protection mechanism with the general public. Prioritize providing the people the assurance of secure cash transaction and not the way the security is put into operation in your website.

High End Website Design

High End Website Design
