I recently became aware that you are not allowed to advertise or have affiliates in any way while using a blog at wordpress.com. I have searched the internet over for a question that no one has been able to answer so far. That question is:

If you use a host that you pay for, to host your blog- like godaddy or something, will wordpress still nuke you? I need to know this because I am dissatisfied using blogspot.com where my blog is currently at. I used to use WP but now want to switch back- but I don’t want to sacrifice my affiliates or advertising because I am using my blog for e-commerce and affiliate marketing purposes.

WordPress states, "Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted on WordPress.com blogs*. If you would like to run ads on your blog, please look into running your own copy of WordPress with one of our hosting partners."

^Does this mean that you can just set up a host and grab your own domain and they wont nuke you?

Any help would be great, and I really appreciate it.

I have a blog on blogspot.com. I’m a teenager, so I’d prefer to find ways to advertise for free. I’m looking more for forum-type sites dedicated to advertising blogs and whatnot. Does anyone know of any sites or free services I could make use of? It’d be greatly appreciated.

I love to blog, so I made a free website. Probably only one person reads my blogs, and I’m not sure how to advertise my website. I don’t have any money to spend on it, so its pretty hard. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get people to read my blog?

I am moving to Austin soon and I love local music, especially rock music and indie/punk/metal/americana/experimental etc. music. I go to lots of local shows and read the local music blogs in the city I live in now. Is there a good music scene in Austin?
