Is white font and black background website not SEO friendly?
I’ve noticed top ranking websites have white background and black texts. I wonder if black background and white text will make it hard in search engines. I want mine to have black background and white fonts. But if it will not do me any good in SEO then I will do the reverse. Can anyone tell me please? Thanks

Hi Ber,
I agree with the others that the colors won’t matter in SEO. In fact, google uses the same design in their blackle page so, as long as there’s contrast, i think the spiders can crawl your site, no problem.
However, it might matter to your target market.
I recall coming across some articles that compared the strain that the eyes get when the text is black on white with if its white on black. If i remember correctly, those articles recommend using white on black for better readability and usability (but please verify this info for yourself). It’s true that the goal of SEO is to improve your visibility in the web but a higher conversion rate won’t hurt, eh? I suggest that you try to ask your friends which design they can stand to look at longer and go with that. The longer your visitors can stay and look around your site, the better for you!
And if you need any SEO help, just head on over to the Frontdesk SEO blog. They have some info there that might be of value to you.
Good luck!

Absolutely not. You can use any color of your choice. Just make sure that you don’t use same font as-well as background color. For eg- If you select white background than you can choose any font color except white. Because if both background and font colors are same the font will not be visible to user.Only bots will crawl it and this will be considered illegal.

No, that doesn’t matter. As long as your content is visible, the background won’t matter. You can refer to my site http://www.seoservicesnepal.com for SEO Tips.

The answer is no.
You can use what ever background you like, it doesnt matter to seo.

The only criteria is for invisible text, so BOTs like Google’s will check for color similarity.
Black and white are two opposites, so won’t affect the BOT at all.
