I am a college marketing student and want to learn SEO. What is the best source to learn about this quickly?
Any source is fine. I could just use some good recommendations. This is an important skill that isn’t taught in the classroom. For example, I have a website (www.will-cain.com). How would I be able to drive traffic to the site? Any help would be great!

The best way to learn SEO quickly is by reading SEO blogs. the rules don’t change much and most everyone is converting to Google. A lot of your success is abide by their rules. I would also suggest checking http://www.hubspot.com, and skimming SEO for dummies. it’s sure to put you to sleep, but will teach you the basics quickly. There is rumor Google might be changing some of their algorithms to accommodate social media better, but for now what you learn will be safe (considering they are laying off people)

The basics of SEO are pretty straight forward, but to really get to grips with every aspect you need to read some good blogs, written by SEO experts, try these
I would suggest reading these and maybe subscribing to the feeds.
It will take time but if you do a little everyday you will get there.

OK follow the links you have been given already there is a lot of useful content out there. Also look for ‘SEO white papers’ which many companies will give you for the price of your email address.
The most important thing you need to do is build content. SEO is of no value is there is no content. So, more content means more reasons to visit your site. More pages of more content = more opportunities for your pages to be indexed within google.
So:
1. Add more useful content to your site.
2. Stream the content into other channels – RSS, Friendfeed.com, register on Technorati – basic things that help Google see where you are.
3. Add sharing buttons for your content http://www.sharethis.com
4. Then start on the wider SEO.
Without content you will have no SEO.

Well I have used this resource for well over a year after purchasing a few lousy ebooks and getting bad advice from forums. You can also find out from other marketers what is working and get questions answered fast.

SEO is not that difficult once you know the basics on choosing the correct keyword phrases or long tail keywords … that is ones that people are searching for and actually convert to sales.

Learning SEO is not something which you learn "Quickly"
It takes tons of time and trial and error. You can hire Indians off elance to do the dirty work for cheap.
The very best way to learn about SEO and how to make a successful website is to use Site Build It. Everything they preach works and has been proven time and time again to be effective.
I think all their study materials and online course are free too.
