Once your on-page factors are set and correct, you don't even need to change it, more so on a weekly basis. You can change it -- e.g. tweak the meta title a bit; add more keywords on the page -- if you want to rank better for some keywords that your site is not currently doing well now.

In terms of SEO, what you need is to develop more content that other people would want to link to. Otherwise, you need to do marketing to build your links.

Making sure your on page factors are correct such as the metatags is just one equation of SEO; you need to build links and get more people to link to your site. That is where most of the work needs to be done.

After the initial on-page SEO has been done, the only work that is required is the constant building of links, which there is no time limit for. It is best to gradually gain links over time, rather than a lot in the first week, and then let it slide for a few months.

The answers above are correct, no need to change the SEO on page once its set, Unless you plan to change keywords later. But Link building is a never ending process. Everyday there are new directories coming out or blogs. Writing an article once a week and submitted it to article directories will help also.

onpage optimization is to determine the quality of the site theme whereas offpage optimization is to determine the ranking among same theme site. offpage require constant link building. it gives the impression of your sites credibility. if you need some info regarding seo check out my site and go to website building section.
