How much does the url name influence Google page rankings?
Example: If I register the domain name www.hongkonghotels.com, will my website show up in the top ten if a user searches on the keywords "hong kong hotels"? (This is just an example, I do not own that url.)
Or are there other tricks that websites with different urls could use to achieve a much higher page ranking?
Thank you for your assistance.

The most important thing to list into search engines is meta tag (the description of your website). when you submit your site to any search engine they ask for meta tag, there you should put the keywords of your desired website.

The most important thing is size of your website, then backlinks, then meta tags, then url. Url does help, but those other things help more. If I have a website that sells used items, it doesnt matter if my url is buyuseditems.com, or if my meta tags have "buy used items" in them. Ebay will still rank higher than me when people search for "buy used items" because ebay is larger and has more backlinks leading to it.

Google does not rank your website based on your URL. Google uses spiders that will search through your entire website reviewing all of your content and images. The best solution is to hire a SEO programmer who can setup all the meta tags.
