How can I do SEO on my website?
I Have a Website, I am using good keywords, meta tags and description, but I heard from now on Google care about back links to the websites. My competitors are having around 2000 back links. I was wondering how can I do the same thing, or what is the wise thing to do. I am not financially set, so I have to do it myself, so please don’t advertise your business to me
Thanks

Submit to any directories related to your product or service and include your link in social networking sites. Write articles and link back to your website from them. This is a long, drawn out process that isn’t going to happen overnight, but it really is the most important aspect of SEO and is worth the time.

For doing seo you have to keyword research, on page optimization, interlinking of web pages.
Do the analysis of competitor site. Do the link building for your targedted keywords.
As i have done for my site http://www.bytelaunch.com I have properly placed meta tags, interlinking and many other things which are best for my site.
I hope would be helpful for you.
Thanks.

Well, there are several ways to do this without purchasing any additional software or service. I do it myself too. When you run the search ‘link:competitordomain.com’ in Google, Yahoo, and Bing, set a goal of 10 to 20 links per day and visit each url.
Then if it is a directory, submit your website to it; if it is a blog, comment something useful to it. Remember to use your main keywords as anchor text for the website you are promoting. If it is a link that you need to pay for, skip it and write it on a list for when you do have the funds for it.
One other tip, is to check the PageRank and Alexa Rank of each of the links. The better the numbers the more impact for your site’s rankings. You can use a FireFox addon called SearchStatus, which checks those rankings automatically when you visit the back link site.
You can also social bookmark your main url and some of the more popular pages on your website using accounts in Reddit, Mixx, StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious, and similar sites. Also mention your website on your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Be sure to create a Facebook fan page also. All of these social bookmarks also create links that point to your website.
I hope this helps and remember it does take time.

get the google traffic pump.
tells you how to do back links etc..

so far so good. my sales are way up. i have not seen the hit count stats but if sales are up thats all i need to know

Getting backlinks from 2000 sites doesn’t mean you can beat up a site with 100 backlinks. What do I mean is, get backlinks from Authority sites (High Page Rank). You’ll beat em’ up!
