Did my SEO developer in India do a good job?
I just finished my 3 month term around a month ago with my SEO guy I
hired from India, and the results I got out of it was less than what I
expected. At first, I was around rank 9 or 10 in my most popular
keyword, and now, I am around rank 7 in the same keyword. It is not too
much of a difference, and it has been around 4-5 months since I first
hired him. I was expecting more of being in the top 3 positions for my
shortlisted 15 keywords.
SEO Tasks that he did was:
On Page Optimization:
Creating Content (keyword density)
Meta Tags, Sitemap, H1 header, etc.
Keyword Target Pages
Website Analysis (Load time, alt tags)
Off Page Optimization:
One Way Inbound links (150 Links, many which are PR0 and PR1)
Manual Submission to Search Engines
Directory Submission (30)
Article Creation and Submission (2 Articles, 10 directories)
Video Creation and Submission (1)
DMOZ Directory
I paid ,000 for the services above.
1. Should I pursue my SEO with him, knowing that every month he can
bring me 40 inbound links for 0 a month, and will that bring my
ranking to a higher position? I would still want to target being in the
top5 in my major keywords.
2. I have another website that is very similar to the site that was just
optimized, more like a site offering the exact same products, but just a
different design of the website. Should I have that site optimized as
well? FYI, both of the sites are under the same webhost, if that should
matter.

Not to worry much Black. It seldom happens with the sites. Because Your seo expert has done with all the good tasks of both on page and off page optimization, I guess the probable reason could be with the keywords.
FYI, let me tell you that the keywords which you target to see for good positions in the search results are to be stuffed properly and abundantly in the web site. It is part of on page optimization though, and is measured as keyword density. Web Spiders when crawling through the site if they find the keywords abundantly (for which you wish to see your site in good position), then the positions for the site in the SERPs would improve effectively.
I know a firm from India which is doing SEO for my site and trust me have shown me good results. I think you should try them.

The keyword have a high quality organic traffic that you can convert is through search engine. Amongst other things, one of the highest criteria that Google checks your back links if you website back links is relevant to your theme that’s good for your website. The more back links is better for your website but should be relevant to your website theme and have good page rank . i think you need more off page optimization of your website include more service like social bookmarking, do follow blog commenting and blog creation these services also help

Gray, first of all I personally feel in a forum any one should tell you or any other person that whether you/he/she can continue with the existing SEO service provider or not.
Now coming to your question and trying to provide you possible solution.
Your are the person who can decide whether you should go ahead with your present service provider or not.
First of all we need to fix what is your goal – Goal should be realistic, don’t run after a thing which is actually not possible.
What do you want from your provider – Your demand should be visible and professional.
And also think how much you want to spent for the result you want – There should be a balance. Don’t wish to earn $100000 by investing $100.
Now take a look at all these factors -
1. Whether the work process is on the right track to reach your goal?
2. Whether you got what you actually want?
3. Did you got the return you expect from your investment (payment)?
If all these things are perfect for you then you should not change him.

see, improving rank of site from 100 to 10 is cooperatively easy task than to improve its rank from 10th to 9th or 8th or (even harder) 7th or (more harder) 6th …. and so on…
I think u must have got my point…. u see, value of incoming links or any other effort made becomes as less as the site improves its rank…

SEO efforts takes 2 to 4 month time to produce results… In some cases it may take even 6 months also.. some time all efforts become useless due to even a tiny update in search engine algorithm.. but all this cannt make the value of efforts, a SEO person made to increase its ranking…

when u r site gets listed on first page of any major search engine, maintaining u r rank become as important as increasing it, remember, all other competitors sharing space on first page with you may also be performing SEO…
if u still think that u have to be improved in search ranks, you should ask ur seo person to get more incoming links and more high PR links…
ask him to submit more articles to more directories, and ya u may have to pay more to get more…
regarding another site….
if u feel that u r SEO person is not performing up to the mark or u wanna get some kind of comparison, you should hire another seo for another website, and than compare performance for both…
