we have a family owned car dealership and I will be going off to dental school and my father will be retiring. we own the property and the business for over 10 years. I need suggestions as to where I can advertise both online and on paper.

also, we are trying to stay away from a broker as much as possible because of the fees and all that, and plus, we are not desperate to sell the property or anything. any advice would be great, as this is our first time selling a privately owned property. cheers.

Hi! I recently started a small buisness with our own store front. The problem is its not very visisble from the street so I will need to advertise by other means…. I LIve in the Tampa Florida area and was just wondering if anyone knows some good ways to advertise, either online or through the mail or criagslist or whatever, any help would be great!

Hey I live near Tampa too! I see a lot of people who stand on the curb and wave signs. You could do that yourself or barter with someone to do it. Also Craigslist and start a Facebook page for your business. Contact the Tampa Times (formerly St. Petersburg Times), they have different insert editions for each area of Tampa. Find the one that refers to things closest to your area and contact the reporters. Maybe they’ll come out and write an article about your new business. Also check online for neighborhood websites and see if you can place an ad there.

There are many websites that let you advertise completely free. Many of them are BS and dont really draw enough traffic to be worth the hassle, but there are 10 of them that draw a lot of traffic, in fact some of them are in the top 10 of all websites in traffic.

I just erased all of the memory and renewed my computer-because it was extremely slow and had many problems. It is used for mostly internet surfing, e-mail, gaming (disc games, and online games such as Runescape) and that is about it. So how can I assure that I keep it up and running, virus-free, and fast?

there are a lot of answers to this question:

defrag: files get fragmented. there is more indepth information about it, but ill keep it simple. when you have a LOT of files, the computer will slow down cuase it has to “search” for them. defragmenter will put them in easier to find locations. makes your computer “faster” (at least, it makes it operate normally, instead of at a compromised speed)

prefetch: your computer wants to try and guess what files you like to load when you use your computer. it will try to keep them readily available for faster loading of these programs even before you call for them so they will “open quicker”. when this fills up with a lot of programs, it takes longer for the computer to start up. search google for “prefetch clean”

try to limit the number of programs that run at startup. make sure the startup folder is as empty as possible. a easy way to see that too many programs are starting (and bogging your system down) is when there are lot of icons in the task bar on the right. (windows like to hide them because ignorance is seemingly bliss)… google “clean msconfig startup” for more info

Have you ever participated in one, whether it be for the often advertised University of Phoenix Online or a “real” school that offers its classes on campus as well as via the World Wide Web?
Do you think that the degree should carry the same weight as if you were sitting in the actual class?
If you are an employer, how do you view it?

Try the internet. Pay for search engines to include you in listings, preferablly Google.
Make your business information available in phone books/newspapers (Dex, Yellow Pages, LA Times, ect.).
Make business cards and post them at places where there are bulliten boards for businesses. (Walmart, restaurants, ect.)
And if you’re desperate, make magnets and put them on the pumps at gas stations. It works well.

Ok, so I recently watched a deoderant commercial online that was advertising that if you win something you will go to outterspace. My reaction was like WTF? Earlier I saw a thread on another website where someone wanted to be a astronaut. Whats with all this talk about becoming an astronaut? Was there some space related event I wasn’t informed of?

NASA is still training astronauts. The Space Shuttles were retired, because “W” made an executive order that the Shuttles be retired., NOT Obama. You can still apply for and be accepted to astronaut training class, so it is STILL possible to be an astronaut. The commercial obviously worked, because it caught your attention.

Question by dakos: How much would it cost to advertise on the internet? Any market information on this?
Looking to find some information on how much it costs to advertise on the internet for a normal company. For example, if a company wanted a banner or link on a resource site how much would they charge? Of course its dependent on how much traffic the site gets, but are there any industry standard prices?

There is no industry standard. It is totally dependant on the amount of traffice, or eyeballs, a particular website is getting.

One of the best ways to advertise your website online is through pay per click. Google and Yahoo are the big ones. Through them, you can get your ads running not only on the search engines, but on websites all over the Internet that have content that matches your website.

You may also want to look for joint venture opportunities. Are there other similar sites to yours that are non-competitors but offer products to the same general marketplace? You could offer to swap banner or text advertising with them.

Don’t overlook e-mail lists as well. You can find someone with an e-mail list. Offer to give them a large percentage of your profit on each sale if they’ll e-mail your ad to their list. It’s a way to make money and get new customers.
