Territory system and certain cities like St. Louis, Portland, Kansas City, San Fransisco were important. The board of directors would have a meeting to decide who the World Champion should be…..odds were it was Harley Race. When Jim Crockett became the #1 promotion the new champion became Ric Flair. So every night at 5:05 on the Superstation TBS you could see some of the top wrestlers challenge Flair for the strap.

Black Sunday — Vince McMahon bought Georgia Championship Wrestling and by doing so got rights to TBS. It was eventually sold back to JCP…..so the stunt got WWF noticed and Wrestlemania was born. JCP then went on the offensive expanding buying other territories but due to financial reasons had to sell to Ted Turner thus forming WCW.

The rest is history and the NWA died in the early 90′s….
